NEW DELHI: Stepping up their attack against chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s plan to split the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Congress councillors came together at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Office and lodged their protest. Barring four councillors all the others are learnt to have been against the idea of a split, sources said. The councillors passed a resolution to this effect.
Even the DPCC executive committee rejected the idea of a split in a separate meeting. Speaking to TOI, DPCC president JP Aggarwal said the issue of splitting the MCD should have ideally been discussed with the party before presenting the report on effecting the split to the cabinet and giving it an in-principle decision in the cabinet.
