Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Jai Prakash Agarwal today led a delegation and met Lt-Governor Tejinder Khanna in regard to the issue of hawkers and shopkeepers who are worried about the Delhi police not issuing licences to sell crackers on Divali.He requested the LG to issue licence to the hawkers and shopkeepers as it was their livelihood.

MLAs like Surender Pal Bittoo, Vipin Shamra, Harikishan Jindal and representatives of sellers of crackers were also present. Sources said the LG listened to the demands of the delegation and took decisions in favour of the sellers.

He said, “Crackers weighing less than 100 kg could be sold without a licence.” The LGalso instructed the municipal corporation to give permission to put up cracker stalls in vacant parks and roads to those who had been selling crackers every year . Besides, on the commercial roads, the sellers could be given permission after taking their affidavits.
