Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP said that the 2009-2010 Railway Budget presented in Parliament was an excellent one and with so many concessions being provided, the Minister had won over the hearts of the people of the country. He said every section of people will derive direct benefit from this popular budget.
Shri Agarwal said that there was no hike in the passenger and freight fares for which Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee deserved high praise. Agarwal said in a bid to give the rail travel facility to workers in the unorganised sector and to those with a monthly income of Rs 1,500, passes costing Rs 25 will be made for travel upto 100 km. He said the 50 per cent concession given to journalists was also a commendable step, adding that the concession in fare given to students was also praiseworthy.
