Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Jai Prakash Agarwal has reportedly, approached the Prime Minister on the issue of pay revision on behalf of its teachers’ wing Indian National Teachers’ Congress (INTEC). Underscoring teachers’ grievances over anomalies in Pay Commission report, Agarwal has written to Manmohan Singh to look into the demands made by teachers all over.

“During the campaign, we observed that teachers are not happy with the delay in the implementation of the recommendations of the Pay Review Committee, which is adversely affecting the fate of the INTEC candidates,” said Agarwal in his application. The application also mentioned introduction of professorship, placement of reader’s scale under pay band IV and parity of librarians with teachers among other teachers’ demands.

Purportedly, the intervention of the DPCC president comes at the point of elections of two important decisive bodies in Delhi University. The elections to Executive Council (EC) and Academic Council (AC) are scheduled on December 19. INTEC, the party’s teachers’ wing will announce its candidates on December 5.
