From traditional Khadi to plain shirts and trousers to suits, Delhi MPs have been peeping into their wardrobe to be in the best attire when US President Barack Obama delivers his speech in Parliament on Monday evening.

While North East Delhi MP and Delhi Congress president Jai Prakash Agarwal will adorn the traditional Khadi, similar to what he did during the visit of President Bill Clinton, North West Delhi MP Krishna Tirath, who is also a Cabinet Minister in the Manmohan Singh Government, has a toss between purple or a green coloured saree to be chosen on Monday morning.

Delhi Congress president and North-East District MP Jai Prakash Agarwal told The Pioneer that it’s a great opportunity to hear US President Barack Obama during the joint session of Parliament on Monday. He is very excited about Obama’s address at Parliament. “He (Obama) would adorn khadi kurta and chiridaar and black coloured bundi. He prefers Khadi dresses, which is a symbol of simplicity. The US President is talking about Mahatma Gandhi and his values and Khadi is known because of Gandhiji,” he said. Agarwal said, adding he was among those who had attended the speech delivered by then United States’ President Bill Clinton in 2000 at Parliament. Agarwal was then Rajya Sabha MP.

“For me it was a historic moment,” he added.
